    Linh Ly, President

Linh Ly is a trial attorney at Pesner Altmiller Melnick & DeMers PLC in Tysons, Virginia where she practices family law, estate planning, and civil litigation. She is licensed in Virginia and was selected to the 2019 and 2020 Virginia Rising Star List in family law by Super Lawyers. Before entering private practice, she clerked for the Honorable John M. Tran in the Circuit Court of Fairfax County. She graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law where she was the Manuscripts Editor of the Journal of Land and Development and a member of the Thomas Tang Moot Court Team. Linh earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia where she majored in English and minored in Asian Pacific American Studies. She also serves as a Co-Chair of the Solo & Small Firm Network of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and a Board Advisor to Devotion to Children. In her free time, Linh enjoys traveling, playing board games, and singing at karaoke. 

Kim Phan, Treasurer

Kim is a Partner in the Privacy and Data Security practice group at Ballard Spahr LLP. She graduated from the George Mason University School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania. Kim has also worked at the Federal Trade Commission’s Office of Policy Planning and the Office of Congressman Virgil Goode
Kim aspires to travel more, but has embraced Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and HBO in her free time instead.
  Jeannette Tran

Jeannette Tran is a trial attorney for the federal government. She earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and B.S. and B.A. from the University of Washington. Jeannette previously worked at the Social Security Administration and also as an Assistant Attorney General at the Washington State Attorney General’s Office. Jeannette enjoys rowing, playing tennis, and traveling.
    Paul Nguyen-Ba

Paul is a staff attorney in the Office of General Counsel at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He graduated from George Mason University School of Law and George Mason University with a degree in computer science. He has previously worked as a patent searcher, patent examiner, and patent attorney. Paul believes that his billable hour requirement is the only reason he is not currently on the PGA tour.  

A.J. Sutton

A.J. is an Intellectual Property attorney with Bookoff McAndrews PLLC in Washington D.C.  He received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.  He is also half-Vietnamese (as if there was any doubt), and he loves to eat Banh Xeo, Banh Mi, and Bun Bo Hue.  A.J. loves movies, Game of Thrones, martial arts, games, mentoring law students, and his friends and family. 


Jacqueline Nguyen

Jacqueline is a patent attorney at Bookoff McAndrews, focusing in the areas of medical devices, chemistry, and pharmaceuticals.  She graduated from the George Mason University School of Law and Marymount University.  While attending law school, Jacqueline was Editor-in-Chief of the George Mason Journal of International Commercial Law and President of the Women’s Law Association.  In her free time, she is a fitness instructor and a self-proclaimed foodie who will eat anything and everything.

  Vi Mai

Vi Mai is an International Trade associate at a D.C. law firm specializing in antidumping and countervailing duty litigation.  Vi graduated from American University Washington College of Law. She went on to clerk at the D.C Superior Court and the D.C. Court of Appeals.  She also worked as a Staff Attorney at a D.C. non-profit serving crime victims and domestic violence survivors. Vi holds the Certificate of Qualification (Canadian Juris Doctor equivalent) issued by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.


Ngoc-Anh Nguyen

An Nguyen is a second year law student at Georgetown University Law Center.  She is a member of APALSA, the Tech Law Scholars Program, and Women's Legal Alliance. She graduated from the University of New Mexico in her hometown, Albuquerque, New Mexico. She hopes to pursue a career in intellectual property at a law firm after graduation.
